2008 "Dr. L." Rielsing

Riesling wines originated in Germany's Rhein and Mosel river valleys. A Riesling wine can span a broad range of styles, being produced in both dry to sweet variations as well as light to full-bodied.  It is one of the wine world's "new" favorites because of its food pairing versatility and refreshing palate that appeal to a wide range of wine consumers.

Riesling wines can be highly aromatic with apple, peach and pear mixed with honey and spice on the nose. On the palate, the apple, pear and peach remnants remain present along with citrus and tropical hints. Rieslings tend to have a nice "minerality" from their native soils, explaining why hints of slate or limestone can be sensed.

"Dr. L comes exclusively from traditional vineyards with steep slopes and slate soil. This introductory, non-estate wine embodies the elegant and racy style of classic Mosel Riesling." www.drloosen.com/v01_drlriesling.htm

The 2008 Dr. L Riesling is pale yellow/green in color. This medium bodied wine is full of green apples and pears on the initial palate. There is some sweetness initially that gives way to slate and good acidity throughout the finish. This white gem can hold both as a sipping stand alone wine, as well as with food, especially spicy food to put out any "fires".  As a bonus, it is a great value at about $11.00 per bottle.
