Tweet & Taste Michigan

I am honored to have been invited to participate in the first "Tweet & Taste Michigan" on March 8th at 8:00 p.m.  This is a "virtual tasting" of 3 wonderful wines from Michigan's own Black Star Farms.  It is a great opportunity to taste some fantastic wine, offer up your comments on each wine and see the comments of others, including the winemaker from Black Star Farms. . . all on Twitter!

Conceived by Shannon Casey of www.MichiganbytheBottle.com, this is a rare opportunity to attend a tasting from your home (or wherever your computer is!). Here is how it works. . .

When: Monday, March 8 at 8 p.m. EST

What is it: Join MichiganByTheBottle, the winemaker, a master sommelier and several local wine bloggers as we explore a select group of wines from Black Star Farms and share our tasting notes and impressions on Twitter.

How it works:

  • Pick up the wines we are tasting at your local wine shop or online. Black Star Farms is offering $.01 shipping to business addresses for participants who order between February 23 and March 9. Use code TweetNTaste in the online shopping cart or place your order by calling 231-944-1270.(For questions or possible exceptions on the shipping discount please call Black Star Farms at 231-944-1311)
  • Log into Twitter on Monday, March 8, at 8 p.m. (using either Twitter.com or your favorite Twitter client, such as TweetDeck).
  • Search using #ttmi (this is the hashtag that we will add to all of our posts).
  • As we taste through the wines, share your impressions and feel free to ask the winemaker any questions. Add #ttmi after every post, to ensure everyone sees it.
  • If you can't find the three specific Black Star Farms wines we are tasting, feel free to pick up any Black Star Farms wines and we will talk about those after discussing the featured wines.

The wines:

  • 2008 Black Star Farms Arcturos Dry Riesling
  • 2007 Black Star Farms Arcturos Pinot Noir
  • 2007 Black Star Farms Arcturos Barrel Aged Chardonnay

Bill WIlson photo

Bill Wilson's (@WineForNewbies) fascination with wine began when he was about 8 years old and visited Fetzer Vineyards with his parents—long before Fetzer became a huge operation. After graduating from law school, his interest in wine was renewed when he represented a group of Indiana wine enthusiasts who wanted to overturn a law that prohibited direct shipping. Since then, he has continued to enjoy wine regularly, has taught wine appreciation at Indiana University's South Bend campus, and has run the Wine For Newbies web site and podcast since 2005.
